Director of Finance

Full Time • TEXAS - Dallas/Fort Worth Headquarters
This position is critical to the ministry of Sky Ranch and contributes directly to our mission of leading youth and families to know and follow Christ. The Director of Finance works alongside the Vice President of Finance and Administration and Global Leadership team to develop and implement strategies across Sky Ranch organizations. This position serves as an advisor to the leaders of each functional area evaluating and assisting them with their financial plans and economic modeling and is responsible for overseeing all financial and fiscal management aspects of all organizations, in conjunction with the Vice President of Finance and Administration and Finance Committee.
 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 
  • Manage all areas of finance, accounting and treasury. 
  • Communicate with the Vice President of Finance and Administration and other Global Leadership Team members through required monthly updates, financial reports, daily, monthly, quarterly, and yearly statistical data. 
  • Provide direction and supervision of direct reports and offer professional growth and development. 
  • Develop and communicate goals and objectives; monitor, evaluate, and provide constructive feedback and direction to direct reports. 
  • Conduct annual performance and ongoing evaluation. 
  • Prepare and proofread letters, memos, and other correspondence accurately and timely. 
  • Oversee budgeting and the implementation of budgets so as to monitor progress and present financial metrics both internally and externally. 
  • Develop financial business plans and forecasts. 
  • Assist in development of short-, medium-, and long-term financial plans and projections for the Global Leadership Team and the Boards. 
  • Represent the organization to financial partners, including financial institutions, auditors, foundation executives, etc. 
  • Review and sign off on maintenance of appropriate internal controls and financial procedures. 
  • Participate in development and execution of Sky Ranch’s vision and strategic objectives as a member of the Global Leadership team.
 

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 
  • Remain up to date on nonprofit audit best practices and state and federal law regarding nonprofit operations. 
  • Maintain compliance with Sky Ranch’s employee policies and procedures. 
  • Maintain compliance with all state and federal laws and regulatory requirements. 
  • Perform other duties as required.
 

FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
  • All financials of the organization and budget.
 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

EDUCATION 
  • Bachelor’s degree required. 
  • Master’s degree in accounting or CPA preferred. 
 

EXPERIENCE 
  • Five plus years of public accounting audit experience or controller-level experience. 
 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS 
  • CPA preferred.
 

KNOWLEDGE
  • In-depth understanding of the field of finance and accounting. 
  • Proficient working knowledge and ability to use various office software including, but not limited to, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook.

  • Excellent organizational skills; ability to multi-task and manage a variety of tasks. 
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality. 
  • Ability to communicate the vision and values of Sky Ranch to both internal and external customers.

  • Board and auditors, financial institutions, and foundation executives. 


PHYSICAL DEMANDS 
  • Little to no limited physical effort required. Ability to use up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently to move objects. 
  • Ability to grasp, push, pull, carry or otherwise manipulate objects; ability to perform tasks requiring action of muscles or groups of muscles and foot and/or hand-eye coordination. 
  • Requires some physical agility, including but not limited to: bending for items below or reaching for items above the individual; crawling under desks; stooping, and climbing step stools or ladder.
 

WORK ENVIRONMENT  
  • Works indoors in normal office environment majority of the time. 
  • Work overtime as needed with some evenings and weekends. Able to work weekends during summer months. 
  • Job location in Van, Texas and Dallas, Texas. If home office is Dallas, will need to be able to split time between Van and Dallas, especially during first few months. 
  • Ability to travel to various geographic locations, including travel by car, and some overnight stays including weekends.  
 

OTHER

Must demonstrate annually a clear background check and review of child safety practices as required for camp accreditation by the American Camping Association.
