Family Ministries Specialist

Full Time • TEXAS - Van
This position is a one year long full-time internship.

This position is critical to the ministry of Sky Ranch and contributes directly to our mission of leading youth and families to know and follow Christ. The Family Ministry Specialist supports the Director of Family Ministries in the development and execution of the Family Ministry content, programs, and summer staff management. This position is a year-long, full-time internship. The Family Ministry Specialist will be responsible to insure that our campers and camper parents experience the “WOW” factor and are served in such a manner that reflects 1) our desire to serve them, 2) our appreciation of them, and 3) satisfactorily meets their needs and expectations.  The Family Ministry Specialist will provide operational and logistical support of Family Ministry Programs for summer and non-summer months.   

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Ensure Family Program operational and logistical support of Family Ministry programs for summer and non-summer months: 
    • Work with all operations teams to plan, organize, and execute Family Ministry programs. 
    • Work with all operations teams to develop training and execute for full time and summer staff for effective ministry in family ministry programs. 
    • Manage assigned summer camp ministry staff. Develop and enforce childcare standards which create the most safe and effective ministry environments possible. 
    • Provide organization with current up to date research on the culture of our guests, their families, and the direction of ministry in our target areas. 
    • Study and understand what is cutting edge and most effective in current ministry practices.
    • Develop, lead, and carry out recruiting efforts for summer ministry teams at ALL camps.
    • Coordinate hiring process with HR and Camp Ministry Recruiting teams. 
    • Oversee Parent/Child and Family Camp Weekends. 
    • Work with ministry team leaders and partners to develop and execute weekend camp programs for camper/family ministry. 
    • Produce follow up content that involves uninvolved parents or equips actively involved parents in the process of evangelizing and disciplining their kids. 
    • Serve in a leadership role over either programming or staff. 
    • Provide summer staff training and spiritual development.
  • Serve as Curriculum Specialist under the guidance and accountability of the Ministry Managers: 
    • Produce yearly content for Family Ministries. 
    • Produce content for yearlong camper investment for all phases through the blogs. 
    • Study and understand what is cutting edge and most effective in current ministry practices.
    • Develop cutting edge effective delivery methods for family ministry content. Includes camp programs, media support, written materials, etc.·       
  • Serve as Ministry Communications Specialist 
    • Act as minister to our campers, their families, and our staff through teaching ministries, written word and creative communications.
  • Provide support in the sales and marketing of camps. ·       
  • Maintain outstanding customer service - Performance is satisfactory when: 
    • Serve guests in a manner that reflects their importance to us. 
    • Attempt to resolve any problems, design a system that prevents a recurrence, or offer an apology and/or refund.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain compliance with Sky Ranch’s employee policies and procedures. 
  • Maintain compliance with all state and federal laws and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform other duties as required.
 
QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION 

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
EXPERIENCE

  • Two to four years of related experience.
 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • Ministry safe/Child advocacy
 

KNOWLEDGE 

  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing excellent customer service. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction. 
  • Proficient working knowledge and ability to use various office software including, but not limited to, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook.  
  • Basic internet and social media skills.

  • Excellent, professional written communication skills. Ability to speak clearly in face to face interactions; to articulate with accuracy on the telephone and through e-mail. Excellent listening skills.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS 

  • Some physical effort required. Ability to use up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently to move objects. During summer months, ability to use up to 50 pounds of force occasionally. 
  • Ability to grasp, push, pull, carry or otherwise manipulate objects; ability to perform tasks requiring action of muscles or groups of muscles and foot and/or hand-eye coordination. 
  • Requires constant physical agility during the summer months, including but not limited to: bending for items below or reaching for items above the individual; crawling under desks; stooping, and climbing step stools or ladder. 
 

WORK ENVIRONMENT  

  • Works indoors in normal office environment about 8 months of the year; works indoors and outdoors the other time, exposed to the seasonal weather elements of Colorado. 
  • Limited exposure to physical risk. 
  • Ability to travel to various geographic locations, including travel by car, and some overnight stays including weekends. 
  • Must also be willing to move to Colorado for the summer position and live in the lodging available.
  • Shared housing on road and at camp.

Must demonstrate annually a clear background check and review of child safety practices as required for camp accreditation by the American Camping Association.
